Renault Trucks adds two new heavy-duty electric models

Renault Trucks is widening its all-electric lineup with two new models T and C of up to 44 tonnes in its E-Tech range. The French truck manufacturer announced in a press release, starting sales for 2023 of the two new models. 

In pursuit of its commitment to enabling customers to transit to clean energy alternatives, Renault is continuously increasing its lineup to provide all-electric solutions for a wide range of use cases.

Since 2020, the commercial vehicles manufacturer has been marketing all-electric Master E-Tech, D E-Tech and D Wide E-Tech. A complete all-electric commercial vehicles range from 3.1 to 26 tonnes options, manufactured in France.

Just yesterday, the company had announced, that it is working with logistics giant Geodis for a 16-tonne electric truck for urban logistics. 

Renault Trucks will start the commercialization of two new models of up to 44 tonnes in its range from the beginning of 2023. 

The T E-Tech model will be ideal for regional transport, while the C E-Tech for construction applications.

A wide range of configuration options available

These new T and C heavy-duty models will come with two or three electric motors options providing a total power of up to 490 kW. Also, they will have an Optidriver gearbox.

Options of two to six lithium-ion battery packs with a capacity of 180 to 540 kWh will be available. The vehicles’ batteries can be fully charged in 9.5 hours by alternating current (AC) up to 43 kW. While the same will be possible in just 2.5 hours using up to 250 kW DC fast charging. 

Also, these trucks will be able to travel up to 300 km on a single charge. And with a one-hour intermediate fast charge (250 kW), it can travel up to 500 km. 

The T and C E-Tech can be equipped with three types of PTO options: electric, electromechanical or on the gearbox. Thus, they can adapt easily to any type of bodywork and consequently to any type of use. 

These new electric trucks will be available in 4×2 and 6×2 tractor versions and 4×2, 6×2 and 8×4 tridem rigid.

Furthermore, Renault Trucks T and C E-Tech will go on sale in the first quarter of 2023.

The manufacturing of the new truck models will be at the Renault Trucks plant in Bourg-en-Bresse.

Renault Trucks intends to sell 50% of its vehicles in electric form by 2030.
