Volvo foremost in the European electric truck market

Statistics from market analysis group IHS Markit revealed that Volvo Trucks had the highest share of the European heavy electric truck market in 2021. As the trucking sector around the globe is undergoing a phase transformation for emission-free operations, the sales of all-electric trucks have started to increase. 

At the lead is Europe, as an increasing number of heavy all-electric trucks are now running in commercial traffic across the continent. In 2021 with an increase of 193% from 2020, a total of 346 electric trucks (≥16 tonnes) were registered in Europe.

Volvo Trucks had the largest share of 42 percent among them.

Volvo Trucks has been serial producing its FL and FE Electric models in Europe since 2019. Production of its heavy electric lineup of FH, FM and FMX electric trucks will begin this fall.

While in the North Americas, Volvo has been producing VNR Electric since 2021 at the New River Valley manufacturing plant in Dublin

In total, Volvo has a range of six all-electric trucks to meet various demands of the market.
